Virtual Scenery, designed by Clement Tung Jeun Cheng, is a residential space that captures the essence of Sai Van Lake in Macau. With its unique design and innovative approach, this project stands out as a true masterpiece in the world of interior design.
What sets Virtual Scenery apart is its ability to bring the virtual image of Sai Van Lake into the interior space. With different densities and angles, the color of water and waves is visualized, creating a mesmerizing effect that immerses the residents in the beauty of nature. The exterior and interior of the space are designed with the same theme, yet they express different aspects, creating a harmonious and profound atmosphere.
The materials and colors used in Virtual Scenery play a crucial role in maintaining consistency between the inside and outside of the space. The white frames of the building outline the shiny reflections of the lake and the rhythmic ripples, while the interior spaces correspond with the outdoor surroundings, allowing the owners to enjoy the scenic lake with leisure.
Technologically, Virtual Scenery utilizes back painted glass to visually extend the space. Large doors made of back painted glass introduce the scenic Sai Van Lake and daylight into the interior, creating a seamless connection between the indoors and outdoors. Electronic blinds in the living room provide adjustable lighting and privacy, while the air conditioning system ensures optimal temperature and humidity, all while saving energy and reducing carbon footprint.
One of the design challenges faced in Virtual Scenery was the choice of materials. The panels in the closet are made of metal, with carefully placed lighting to create a harmonious rhyme within the space. The closet doors, made of back painted glass, add a touch of seclusion to the space. The overall choice of low chroma materials brings a sense of serenity and tranquility, allowing the residents to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the lake.
Virtual Scenery is a testament to the power of design in creating immersive and unique spaces. With its innovative approach and attention to detail, this residential project has truly transformed the concept of living. It is a place where residents can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse themselves in the virtual beauty of Sai Van Lake.
